Kaş Köpekleri İçin Yeni Bir Başlangıç

Hayvanlar Kaş Belediyesi’nin aklından hiç çıkmadı geçtiğimiz hafta. Dün, Kaş Belediye Başkanı Abdullah Gültekin Kaş Köpeklerinin Arkadaşları’nı arayarak bir toplantı rica etti.
Bugün işte Kaş’tan gelen bu haberle uyandık:

Başkanla herşey çok olumlu geçti bugün.
Yeni bir çizgi çetik ve bugün herşeye baştan başlıyoruz.
Önümüzdeki iki hafta içinde 20 köpeğin kışırlaştırılması için ödeme yapmayı ve ve bize Kalkan’da “anahtar deliği” tekniğiyle ameliyat konusunda eğitimli hekime gidebilmemiz için araç temin etmeyi kabul
etti.
Bu süre içinde adamları barınaktaki ameliyat odasını tamamlayacaklar ve bundan böyle doktorları hayvanlara getirmek yerine tersini yapabileceğiz.
Seni Kısırlaştır ve Yerine Bırak Bırak Projesi hakkındaki gelişmelerden haberdar edeceğim.

Bu gelişmeler dolayısıyla ne kadar mutlu olduğumuzu anlatamam. Görünen o ki Kaş Belediye Başkanı sorunları halletmenin başka yöntemleri olduğunu görmüş.

İtlaf geçmiş ait bir yöntem, Kısırlaştır ve Yerine Bırak ise BUGÜNE. 5199 Sayıı Hayvan Haklarını Koruma Yasası açıkça köpeklerin/kedilerin kısırlaştırılıp, aşılanıp bulundukları yere bırakılmasını emrediyor.

Ormana atmak yasak.

Kaş Belediye Başkanını politikasında yaptığı değişiklikten dolayı kutluyor ve kendisini yöredeki hayvan hakları korumacılarıyla, onlara karşı değil, birlikte çalışmak konusunda yüreklendirmek istiyoruz.

Bu blog şimdi adını KAŞ KÖPEKLERİ İÇİN UMUT olarak değiştiriyor ve bundan sonra Kısırlaştır ve Yerine Bırak programı hakkında yeni haberleri aktaracak ve Belediye ile hayvanseverler arasındaki ortak çalışmaları örnekleyecek.

Bu blogla, Sahip Çıkalım! Kaş Belediyesi’ne ve diğer belediyelere böyle bor projeyi sadece hayvanlar için değil kendileri için de nasıl bir başarı hikayesine dönüştürülebileceğini konusunda fikir vereceğiz.

A new beginning for the dogs of Kas.

Animals have been very much in the mind of the Kas Municipality for the last week.
Yesterday, the Mayor of Kas, Abdullah Gültekin called the Friends of Kas Dogs and requested a meeting.
This morning we woke up with the following email from Kas:

Viktor,
All very positive with the Mayor today.
A line has been drawn and we start again today.
He has agreed to pay for twenty dogs to be neutered in the next two weeks and to supply us with transport to go to Kalkan where the vet trained in keyhole surgery is.
During this time further work will be carried out by his people at the sanctuary to finish the surgery where we then be able to bring the vet’s to the dogs instead of the other way around.
Will keep you posted on our progress with the TNR program.

I cannot tell you how happy we are about these developments. Obviously the Mayor of Kas has realized that there is a better way to solve problems.

Killing is the way of the past, Neuter and Return is the way of TODAY.

The Animal Welfare Law 5199 clearly states that dogs must be neutered AND returned to the same location where they were found.

Killing is forbidden.

Dropping in forests is forbidden.

We congratulate the Mayor of Kas for his change in policy and encourage him to work in cooperation with the local animal welfare group, NOT against it.

This blog will now change its name to: HOPE FOR THE DOGS OF KAS and it will provide regular updates on the new Neuter and Return program as well as showcase the combined work of the Municipality and the animal lovers.

From this blog, Let’s Adopt! will be providing advice to the Kas Municipality on how to make this project a success not only for the animals, but for themselves.

Kaş Köpeklerine Koruma Sözü – Promise of Protection for the Dogs of Kaş

Bugün bir zaferi duyurabildiğimiz nadir günlerden biri.

Bir iyi adamın, CHP Milletvekili Mehmet Sevigen’in müdahalesi ile Kaş köpekleri katliamdan kurtuldu.

Belediye’deki kaynaklarımız bize köpeklerin zehirlenmesinin dün gece için planlandığını bildirdi. Bu haber üzerine Sahip Çıkalım gece yarısı ile 06.00 arasında Kaş sokaklarında 20 gönüllüden oluşan bir ekip konuşlandırdı.

Zehirlenme engellendi.

Ancak iyi haber bu sabah geldi. Sayın Mehmet Sevigen Kaş Belediye Başkanını telefonla arayarak kendisine Kaş köpeklerinin başına hiçbir şey gelmeyeceğini hatırlattı. Kaş Belediye Başkanı aynı fikirdeydi, Kaş köpekleri bundan sonra Belediye tarafından korunacak ve bakılacaklardı. Hatta Belediye Başkanı Belediye web sitesinde kendisinin de bir hayvansever olduğunu, ve bu köpeklerin bakılmakta olduğunu açıkladı. İyi… bunu sevdik. Umarız sözünü tutar. Hepimizin bildiği gibi, bir politikacının en değerli sermayesi inanılırlığıdır. Bunun gibi halka açık verilmiş bir sözü tutmayan bir politikacı hem tüm inanılırlığını yitirir, hem de partisini küçük düşürür.

Sayın Sevigen’e minnettarız. Müdahalesinin etkileri çok geniş ve kapsamlı. Eylemi birçok can kurtardı, sadece Kaş’ta değil, CHP idaresindeki bütün Belediyelerde.

Bir hafta önce Sahip Çıkalım! üyeleri arasında küçük bir anket yaptı. Sorgulanan insanların %99’u oy verirken kendileri için en önemli olan şeyin bir Partinin hayvanlara uygulanan muameleler konusundaki politikaları olduğunu söyledi. 22,000’I aşkın üyesi ve onların aileleri ve akrabalarıyla Sahip Çıkalım! göz ardı edilemeyecek kadar büyük bir grup. Ülkenin en büyük hayvanlara yardım platformunu oluşturmak için sosyal medyayı kullanmamız sayesinde, hayvanseverler toplumunun birleşik oyları artık göz ardı edilemez.

Mehmet Sevigen’e davamıza verdiği destek için bir kez daha teşekkür ediyoruz, ve kendisini potansiyel bir Halkla İlişkiler felaketini bir politikacının duyarlılığının nasıl bir fark yaratabileceğini gösterecek bir vitrine dönüştürdüğü için kutluyoruz. Davranışı, partisinin, CHP’nin milyonlarca insan tarafından nasıl algılandığı üzerinde de büyük etki yaratacaktır. Bu fırsatı değerlendirerek Hayvan Hakları Kanunu’nun tüm CHP Belediyelerinde doğru uygulanmasını görüşmek üzere resmi bir toplantı rica ediyoruz.

Son olarak, üyelerimizi blog’umuza bir not bırakarak Sayın Sevigen’e bu olayda müdahalesi ve arabuluculuğu için takdirlerini belirtmeye davet etmek isteriz.

Dear Friends,

Today is one of those rare days where we can announce a victory.

Thanks to the intervention of one good man, the CHP Parlamentarian Mehmet Sevigen, the dogs of Kas have been spared execution.

Our sources at the Municipality informed us that the poisoning of the dogs was planned for last night. Upon hearing those news Let’s Adopt! deployed a team of 20 volunteers along the streets of Kaş between midnight and 06.00.

The poisoning was averted.

But the good news came this morning. Mr. Sevigen gave a call to the Mayor of Kas and reminded him once again that nothing was to happen to the dogs of Kas. The Mayor of Kaş, agreed, the dogs of Kaş would from now on be protected and cared for by the CHP Municipality. The Mayor went as far as to announce on the Municipality website that he is an animal lover and that those dogs are cared for.  Good.. we love that!!.

We hope Abdullah Gültekin will honor his promise and his word. As we all know the credibility of a politician is his most valuable asset. A politician who breaks a public promise like this one would loose all its credibility and would

ridicule the party he belongs to.

We are extremely grateful to Mr. Sevigen. His intervention has repercussions far and beyond. His action has spared many lives, not only in Kas, but also in all Municipalities controlled by the CHP.

Saved!... for now...

A week ago Let’s Adopt! conducted a Flash poll amongst its members. 99% of the people questioned expressed that the single most important point for them at the time of casting a vote is the policy of a Party in relation to its treatment of animals. Let’s Adopt!, with its over 22.000 members and their extended families and relations is a group far too large to be ignored. Thanks to our use of social media to build the nation’s largest animal welfare platform, the combined votes of the animal lover community cannot be dismissed any longer.

Once again, we thank Mehmet Sevigen for his support to our cause and congratulate him for having turned a potential PR disaster into a great showcase of how one politician’s compassion can make a tremendous difference. His action has a direct repercussion in the way its party, the CHP is perceived by millions. We would like to seize the opportunity to publicly request a formal meeting in order to discuss the correct implementation of the Animal Welfare Law 5199 in all CHP-controlled Municipalities.

Finally, we would like to invite our members to leave a note in our blog and express their appreciation to Mr. Sevigen for his intervention and mediation in this case.

Kaş Belediyesinden uzun bir gündü bugün. Telefonlarınız, mesajlarınız ve epostalarınız operatörleri bütün gün meşgul etti. Doğal olarak cinayetlerden sorumlu olanlar telefonlara çıkmadı, kaba saba yanıtlarla herşeyi reddeden santral memurelerinin, ofis memurlarının arkasına saklandılar. Bazıları köpeklerle büyüdüklerini söyleyerek dalga geçiyordu. Belli ki kimsenin sevgili hayvanları zehirlenmemişti.

CHP İstanbul milletvekili Sayın Mehmet Sevigen şahsen Kaş belediye başkanını arayarak partinin ismini sonsuza kadar lekeleyebilecek olan bu konu hakkında bilgi isteyinceye kadar kimse gerçekleri söylemedi.
Sayın Sevigen ilk elden Zabıta Müdürü Mustafa Atılgan’ın “benzer konulara” karıştığını ve “uyarıldığını” öğrendi ilk elden. Başkan, Sayın Sevigen’i böyle bir şeyin asla TEKRARLANMAYACAĞINA dair temin etti. Bu, bizim şimdiye kadar duyduğumuz ilk İTİRAF oldu. Bir Başkan Zabıta Müdürünün istediğinin yaptığını ve bunun karşılığında eline
vurduklarını söylüyor. Masumların canı bu kadar ucuz mu? ne zamandır Zabıta kendi başına kendi kanunu uygulayan bir birim oldu?

Sayın Sevigen Başkan’a ülkemizdeki hayvanseverlerin ve tüm dünyanın durumu izlemekte olduğunu ve bu tür bir eylemin parti bir yana, ülkeye onarılamaz bir zarar vereceğini de anlattı.
Şimdi Belediye’den resmi bir açıklama bekliyoruz, Yıllardır edindiğimiz deneyim resmi söylemin “HEYŞEYİ İNKAR ET” demek olduğunu söylüyor. Bu durum Sarıyer’de, Beykoz’da, Eyüp’te, Erzurum’da, İzmir’de ve son olarak Fatih’te böyleydi. İnkar ülkenin heryerinde kanunlara açıkça karşı gelen belediye başkanları tarafından kullanılan bir yöntem.

Sahip Çıkalım!’ın ülkenin ve dünyanın dört bir yanındaki binlerce üyesi buna bir son verecek, şimdi, burada!

It has been a long day at the Municipality of Kaş. Your calls, messages and e-mails kept the switchboard occupied all day. Naturally, none of the people responsible for acts of murder took the calls. They hid behind the operators, behind their clerks who were often rude, denying everything. Some were having fun, saying that they grew up
with dogs. Obviously none of those had poisoned their beloved animals.

Nobody owned up to the truth until CHP parliamentarian for Istanbul, Mr Mehmet Sevigen personally called the Mayor of Kaş and inquired about the state of affairs that can damage the reputation of the party forever.

He learned, first hand, that Mustafa Atılgan, who is the head of municipal police has been involved with “these issues” and he was duly “warned”. The mayor assured Mr Sevigen that nothing like this will ever happen AGAIN. This is, by far, the first CONFESSION, we have ever got. Here, we have a Mayor who says his Municipal Chief of Police acts
and behaves the way he wants and all he gets is a slap on the wrist.

Are lives of the innocent so cheap? Since when the Municipal Police is an independent entity which practices its own law?

Mr Evigen was further explained that the animal lovers in this country and all around the world are watching and an action such as this will create irreparable damage to his party, not to mention our country.

Now we are waiting for the Municipality for a formal explanation. We know from years of experience that the official line here is “DENY EVERYTHING”. This was the case in Sarıyer, in Beykoz, in Eyüp, in Erzurum, in İzmir, and most recently in Fatih. Denial goes on all around the country where the mayors blatantly go against the law trying to create their own rules.

Citizens of this country have every right to stop this legally. Please visit HAYTAP website and find the petition that is applicable to your case. Take the lawless to the courts. We have a great legal system in this country and sooner or later WE WILL WIN!

Duyuru: Kaş köpeklerinin katline son verin.

Önceleri sakin bir balıkçı kasabasıyken şimdilerde nispeten bozulmadan kalabilmiş, arabayla Antalya’dan 3 saat, Fethiye’den 2 saatlik uzaklıkta,  Akdeniz bölgesi’ nin  turistik bir beldesi.

Turistik olarak gelişmiş diğer sahil şeridi beldelerinin aksine Kaş hala çekiciliği koruyor. Bu cazibe  dağların eteklerindeki konumundan, sakin atmosferinden ve en çok da  köpeklerinden kaynaklanıyor.
Kaş’ın sokak köpekleri efsanevidir.  Arkadaş canlısı ve nazik bu canlar kasabayı ziyaret eden pek çok turist tarafından sevilmiş ve değer verilmiştir. Kaş’a gelen turistler onlara değer verirler, beslerler, onları okşarlar hatta bazen onları sahiplenir ve beraberlerinde kendi ülkelerine götürürler.

Köpekler Kaş’ın değerleri. Onlar Türkiye deneyiminin bir parçası, turistler onları sever, turistik tesisler onları sever..  ama belediyeı başkan sevmez.

Başkan geçtiğimiz günlerde bir grup endişeli hayvansevere şu cümleyi sarfetti: ‘Öldürmeye devam edeceğim, yapabiliyorsanız durdurun beni’

23 Nisan’da, çocukların bir ülkenin geleceği olduğuna inanan Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün çocuklara hediye ettiği bayram gününde sabah 6:30′ da bir tanık bir zabıta arabası gördü, içinde bir zabıta memuru ve temizlik işçileri… Birinin uzun namlulu bir tabancası vardı diğerlerinde içinde bir şeyler dolu olan de büyük plastik çantalar… Kadın zabıtaya ne yaptıklarını sorduğunda zabıta memuru ona köpekleri  Kaş Barınağı’na götürüp bakmak için uyuttuklarını söyledi.

Bu yalandı. O gün Kaş bir başka köpek katliamına tanık oldu… bir tane daha!

Belediye bu duygusuz öldürmeleri on yıllardır yapıyor.  Artık buna bir son verme zamanı geldi!

Geleneksel olarak hayvansever gruplar bu katliamları önlemek için geç kalır. Genellikle sokaklardaki ölü köpekleri bulan kişiler bizi haberdar ederler durumdan. O zamana kadar da biz çok geç kalırız ve katiller görevlerini başarıyla tamamlamış olurlar.

Bu kez farklı olacak. Kaş Belediyesi’nde çalışan iki  Sahip Çıkalım! üyesi bizi belediyenin planları konusunda uyardı. Kaş köpekleri tatil sezonu bittikten hemen sonra öldürülecekler.

Tatil sezonu bitti.

Bu haftasonu Kaş turistle dolu olacak. Kaş Belediyesi’nin planlarından habersiz o güzel hayvanlarla oynuyor olacaklar.

Sahip Çıkalım! daha önce görülmemiş bir FARKINDALIK Kampanyası yürütecek. Bu sefer sadece onlarca ölü köpeğin önünde çığlık atmayacağız. Bu sefer onları çok geç olmadan korumaya çalışacağız. Bu internet tabanlı bir FARKINDALIK Kampanyası olacak ancak bununla kalmayacak medyada da yer bulacak. Tüm dünyadaki internet yazarları bu kampanyayı duyurmak için ve destek olarak bizimle temas kurmaları için davet edildiler. Ayrıca  tüm dünyadaki hayvan aktivist ağlarına yardım taleplerimizi göndereceğiz.

Pek çoğunuz Kaş’a gitmek için yoldasınız, bazılarınız zaten oradalar. Kaş’taki otel işletmecilerine, dükkan sahiplerine  bu sene olacakları tüm dünyanın izleyeceğini  ve  binlerce insanın cinayetleri durdurmak için ne gerekiyorsa yapacağını bildirin. Eminiz ki turistlerin bu olayı boykot etmesini isteyecek çok sayıda insan olacaktır.

Kaş’ta yaşayan insanlara Kaş köpeklerinin KESİNLİKLE ÖLDÜRÜLMEMESİ GEREKTİĞİNİ ve Kaş Belediye Başkanı Abdullah Gültekin‘in  kanunların üzerinde olmadığını bildirin.

Biz, katliamı gerçekleşmeden durdurabilecek eşsiz bir şansa sahibiz.

Kas, once an unspoiled fishing village, is now a relatively unspoiled tourist town on the southern bulge of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast two hours’ drive southeast of Fethiye and three hours’ drive southwest of Antalya.

Unlike most coastal developments Kas still has charm, a charm that comes from its setting at the foot of the mountains, its unhurried ambiance and, most importantly, its dogs.

The stray dogs of Kas are legendary. Friendly and kind, they are loved and cherished by the many tourist that visit the village. Tourists coming to Kas care for them, feed them, pet them, at times they even adopt them and take them back to their countries of origin.

Dogs are an asset for Kas. They are part of the whole Turkey experience, tourists love it, tourist establishment love it… but not the Mayor.

The Mayor of Kaş Abdullah Gültekin hates dogs.

Recently the major said to a concerned group of animal lovers:  “I’ll keep on killing them stop me if you can”

23 of April, Childrens day, the holiday created by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk who believed that children were the future of this nation.

6:30 am an eyewitness saws a police car, a  municipal policeman and the employees from the cleaning department. One of them had a pistol with a long barrel and the others had big black plastic bag which were all full with something. As she asked the police what they were doing policeman said that they were sedating dogs to take them to Kaş Minester Shelter for  nursing  them.

It was not true. That day, Kas witnessed yet another dog massacre. One more.

The Municipality has been repeating this senseless killing for decades. It is time to stop them.

Traditionally, animal welfare groups are always late to stop those killings. Usually, we are alerted by people who find dead dogs in the streets. By the time we get there is usually too late and the assassins have succeeded in their mission.

This time will be different. Two of Let’s Adopt members are working for the Municipality of Kas and they have alerted us of the Municipality’s plans. The Dogs of Kas will be killed shortly after the Holiday season is over.

This weekend Kas will be full of tourists. They will be playing with the beautiful animals completely unaware that of the plans of the Kas Municipality.

Let’s Adopt will conduct an awareness campaign like no other. This time we won’t be screaming for justice at the sight of tens of dead dogs.  This time we will try to save them before its too late. This will be an internet-based awareness campaign but it will involve traditional media as well. Bloggers all over the world are invited to report on this campaign and to contact us to offer their assistance.

We will also request the help of animal activist networks from all over the world.

Most of you are already on your way to Kas, some are already there.
Let the hoteliers, shopkeepers of Kas that this year the world will be watching them and that thousands of people will use whatever means necessary to stop the killings. We are sure there will be people that will call upon a boycott on Tourism.

Let the people of Kas now that the dogs of Kas MUST NOT BE KILLED, and The Mayor of Kaş Abdullah Gültekin, is not beyond the scope of the Law.
